Billie Ruth, House / Mix-Use
The Standbridge Homestead is small scale mixed use building that was designed to embrace the revitalization of the charming Downtown Sulphur Springs. With a private residence on the second story, and an inviting storefront on the bottom, the building serves as a insight to what this growing downtown has to offer.
Designed to maintain the alluring feel of the small town, it blends seamlessly into the existing cityscape. It preserves the unique history and atmosphere of this quaint downtown area. Although the building is brand new, it doesn't feel out of place and has been a great addition to the community.
Billie Ruth Standbridge, the building owner, wanted to live in the heart of the city that she loves. The balconies and terraces allow her to be a part of the town, and be involved with any of the city activities. The clerestory windows and open lightwell-like stairs in the center allow for her home feel bright and spacious, having the feeling of a freestanding house while being directly in the city center.
Standbridge Homestead is the first phase of a two part project. The second phase of the project, The Standbridge Courtyard, is a larger mixed use building with rentable apartment units that sit above welcoming storefronts.
